A gentleman underwent an angioplasty to open a coronary artery. There were complications which resulted in blood leaking into the tissue surrounding the heart. This compressed the heart and eventually caused him to suffer a cardiac arrest from cardiac tamponade. The cardiologist was too slow to recognize this complication and the patient suffered a significant brain injury which left him cognitively impaired. This case was successfully prosecuted with co-counsel from another state.
