To Help Protect the Rights of the Injured, tell Congress to reject the President’s Medical Malpractice and Tort Reform Agenda

If you’ve read the news lately, you know that President Bush is determined to push through Congress some of the toughest legislation to date against your rights to sue a hospital, doctor or nurse whose mistake has caused you injury. He also wants to make obtaining compensation for injuries sustained in car accidents, truck accidents, product liability, prescription drug injuries and other forms of personal injury more difficult and time consuming. If you or a loved one has ever faced the ordeal of a personal injury, then you know there are already too many obstacles facing the injured today, and not enough efforts made to prevent injuries. Tort reform that benefits Americans won’t be achieved by changing existing laws. New laws that hold big insurance and big business more accountable, and that question how insurance companies justify the soaring rates of medical malpractice insurance - these are the kinds of laws that will make a difference. Insurance companies must be subject to the law. The law cannot be subject to insurance companies. Unfortunately, the agenda President Bush is pressing ahead goes a long way to accomplishing the latter.

Our right to sue someone who has harmed us – either financially, physically or emotionally – is a fundamental right we must always defend. If you want to protect the rights of the injured, contact your Senator and Representative today and tell them what you think. Below is a list of the members of Congress serving Virginia and West Virginia. Please let them know your opposition to tort reform that benefits insurance companies, and not the American people.
